Story

Dear Friends and Family,

As many of you know, I was diagnosed with prostate cancer in January of 2022 along with a small melanoma in February. After a minor surgery for the melanoma and a major one for the prostate cancer, I am now very gratefully cancer-free! But in the time since my diagnosis we have lost family members and other loved ones to cancer, and have had other family members and close friends fighting it. Odds are good that cancer has touched your life in some way as well. All this inspired me to take action. But I need a team, and that's where you come in!

I have committed to running in a Spartan Obstacle Course Race to raise money for the American Cancer Society and to raise awareness for early detection. Please be a part of my team! I'll do the running, climbing, crawling and mudding - I'm asking you to contribute any amount, small or large, to this fundraising page.

I originally commmitted to race in May of 2023, but there were a few obstacles on the way to obstacle course race!  It seems rushing into a training program for something you've never done when your 48-year-old body has just had major surgery isn't a great idea. After several injuries and clear commands from my body to rest and heal, I decided to reschedule. I am now scheduled to run, climb and mud my way through the obstacles  on October 22, 2023 just outside of Dallas, TX and have been training - a bit more slowly and gently this time, but I'm almost ready!!!

So please join my team! Contribute in memory of someone you've lost to cancer. Contribute in celebration of someone who has survived it. Contribute so that fewer people have to fight this fight and so those who do have better support and a better chance than they have now. Donations to this page are secure, go 100% to the American Cancer Society, and are tax deductible.

And if you want to run with me, sign up for the race and join my racing and  fundraising teams under the name "The Dancing Bears"!  The link is below.

Thank you so much for your help!

Ryan
